MedX = Medical + Exercise
MedX Medical Machines were specifically designed for the rehabilitation
of injured populations, specifically patients with chronic neck, mid back, and low back pain. The trademark of the MedX machines is their ability to isolate, assess, and strengthen the spine. Pre, post, and non-surgical candidates with chronic pain and dysfunction may benefit from strengthening the spinal musculature, improving spinal range of motion and postural alignment.
The patented MedX stabilization systems provide reliable test results and ensure
patient safety while using the equipment. All MedX machines possess the ability
to limit range of motion with the capability to progress ROM while gradually
progressing resistance in small increments to improve muscular strength.
MEDX AS A TESTING TOOL
MedX data recording and processing software allows a therapist to safely
and accurately determine a patient's physical limitations and subsequent improvements in strength and range of motion. Reports can be generated showing comparisons between age, gender, and stature matched norms.
MedX computerized reports generate accurate and quantifiable data to determine a patient's level of disability at the beginning of the treatment and the degree of improvement throughout the treatment program.
HOW MEDX WORKS
Patients are seated comfortably in the specific MedX machine prescribed.
In the MedX cervical machine, the torso is restrained so that only the deep stabilizing muscles in the neck are targeted. Because the cervical muscles of the neck are responsible for having to continually support the weight
of the head, weak muscles can lead to headaches, neck pain, and poor postural mechanics.
In the Lumbar machine, the hips/pelvis and legs are restrained so that only
the deep stabilizing muscles in the back are targeted. Weak and/or atrophied lower back muscles can be a factor in complaints of back pain, leg pain, spinal stiffness, and other spinal complaints.
THE GOAL OF MEDX
The ingenuity behind MedX's success in helping patients decrease levels of pain and improve tolerance to activity is by the ability to isolate and strengthen the stabilizing deep muscles of the neck and back. Unlike other spine strengthening exercises that involve the compensatory muscle groups, MedX targets ONLY
the muscles responsible for maintaining alignment of the spine. Poor spinal alignments lead to postural dysfunction, which leads to pain.
